Declared 2012 Democratic Presidential Candidate
Current President of the United States

Barack Obama

Presidential Candidate Barack Obama
Obama Siblings

President Barack Obama has a total of ten half-siblings from his mother’s two
marriages, his father’s four, and another two from his former stepfather. He is the third eldest
of the ten.

The eldest of the brood is Abon’go (Roy) Malik Obama, born in 1958. He is the first child from the marriage of Barack Obama Sr. and Kezia Obama. President Obama has a close relationship with Malik, and both served as the best men in each other’s wedding. He currently runs an electronic store in Nairobi, Kenya, but also owns a Washington-based consulting firm. Kezia gave birth to a daughter in 1960, Dr. Auma Obama. She is a London-based educator.

Obama Sr. married schoolteacher, Ruth Baker, five months after his divorce to Ann Dunham, the mother of President Obama. The relationship produced two sons, Mark Okoth Obama (1965) and David Opiya Obama (1967-1987). The couple filed for divorce in 1973 and Ruth remarried a year later to Tanzanian businessman, Ndesandjo, and the two boys took his name. Mark, who holds a BSc (Physics) from Brown, an MSc (Physics) from Stanford and an MBA from Emory, runs a China-based net consulting firm. His brother, David, died tragically in a motorcycle accident in 1987.

While still married to Baker, Obama Sr. is alleged to have sired two more sons with his first wife, Kezia. Abo Obama, who runs a retail outlet in Kenya, was born in 1968. Naturalized British citizen, Bernard Obama, meanwhile, was born in 1970 and currently lives in Bracknell, England.

President Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham, remarried in 1965 to Indonesian Lolo Soetoro and from that union, Maya Kassandra Soetoro was conceived. Born in 1970, Maya is very close to her half-brother Barack, and was a key figure in his 2008 campaign. The educator currently lives in Honululu, Hawaii, with her husband and daughter.
The Soetoros

The last of the brood, George Hussein Onyango Obama, came in 1982, six months before Obama Sr. died in a road accident, from a relationship with fellow Kenyan, Jael. George currently resides in Huruma, Kenya.

President Obama technically has another two half-sisters. After the divorce of his former stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, and mother, Soetoro remarried and had a son and a daughter; Yusuf Aji Soetoro (1981) and Rahayu Nurmaida Soetoro (1987)
